Reaching for the Stars by First Harnessing their Power
Nuclear fusion is one of the most promising methods of power generation in the world that hasn't yet been implemented. Recent years, however, have brought many developments to the field. Our team seeks to spend the coming years investigating various aspects of a fusion-powered direct propulsion drive, specifically using a systems engineering framework to look at how subsystems in a centrifugal confinement-based fusion reactor might interact and be implemented in practice on a spacecraft. Our team consists of a combination of physics, mathematics, engineering, and computer science students working to holistically assess the details of such a fusion system.
